Viva Ona Bartkus is Professor Emerita at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Bartkus graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in economics, and then completed her doctorate and master’s in international relations at Oxford University, while on a Rhodes Scholarship. Cambridge University Press published her doctoral research into why communities take up arms to fight for self-determination and secession (titled The Dynamic of Secession). Dr. Bartkus also served clients to overcome their strategic, operational, and organizational challenges while at McKinsey & Company as a partner of the firm.
